Cherry Point officials cut the ribbon on a new program today that will get fifth graders excited about STEM.
That’s science, technology, engineering and math.
All things stem just for fifth graders can now be found at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point.
Officials cut the ribbon for the Starbase Cherry Point program founded by the Department of Defense.
Since its founding over 30 years ago the program has been dedicated to sparking curiosity, building confidence and opening doors.
Program leader Christy Hazlett says the program was brought to the air station in February for fifth graders in counties across eastern North Carolina.
So, we want them when they go to middle school and to high school to be excited about possible classes that are around stem.
The program lasts for five days…
