However, in many cases that water does not come from the environment, but from the plant itself. This phenomenon is known as guttation and is one of the most fascinating curiosities of the plant world.
What is the phenomenon of guttation?
Guttation is a natural mechanism through which plants expel excess water accumulated inside them. Unlike dew, which forms through the condensation of moisture in the air onto cold surfaces, in guttation the water comes directly from inside the plant.
In other words, the droplets do not appear from outside, but are “exuded” by the leaf itself.
