Human activities such as urban development, road and infrastructure construction, and deforestation have well-known effects on wildlife, including wild animals such as mammals and birds. A new study led by scientists at the University of California, Santa Barbara the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute, and Yale University not only clearly documented these effects but also shows how animals respond directly to the physical presence of humans.
