Saying goodbye to the AV-8B Harrier jet.
The big thing that makes the Harrier the Harrier obviously is the V/STOL capability. Our ability to take off a very short distance as well as our ability to hover if we need to.
The Harrier has been active since the 1970’s worldwide. It’s unique landing capabilities means the plane can land vertically, similar to a helicopter.
When you look at like– an F-18 or an F-35C they need a catapult to get off the deck, and they need a tail hook with a resting gear to stop. And when you look at AV-8B and now F-35B that brings that very unique capability where you can project that power forward.
